A Grade 26 Maroochydore 19

The A Grade came away with the win on a day they produced one of the best displays in the history of Caboolture Rugby Unions history. Struggling to field a front row for the 2nd week running due to injuries and other reasons, the boys matched up against Maroochydore on the weekend. The call went out on Saturday morning to find props and hookers to avoid having to play with only 14 players, to the credit of old boys and makeshift players they answered the call and we were able to take the field with contested scrums. Much applause and thanks must go to Ronny Leonard, Adam Emmerson and Clayton Punter who all put their hands up and played themselves to a stand still against the much more credentialed Maroochydore pack.

The game was played out in a much different style then the last few weeks with most of the tries coming from the forwards this week. The Maroochydore backline through some great defence managed to cut down our attacking plays, but this left the door open for the forwards to play some strong running rugby that produced tries for Brad Lawrie, Chris Hilleard and Matty Hobbs. Jay Forrester also managed to give the slip to the Maroochydore backs to cross the line. Tom Aldridge kicked the goals for the day to add the extra points.

B Grade 42 Maroochydore 5

The B's put up a strong first up display but faded in the 2nd half. The signs are still there that the boys are improving each week and Gary Cossart is very upbeat. Numbers are good and enthusiasm is high despite a lean year so far. Better to come.

This Saturday's games are at Caloundra in all grades.
