The A grade went to Hervey bay expecting a tough encounter with Fraser Coast, who always grow extra strengh they play before their home supporters. From the outset the game was played with much intensity and early bullocking runs from both teams. Fraser started very slow and Caboolture flew out of the box and went into half time with a good lead 26-9. The second half was a different game with Fraser coming back after the break and powering through with their forwards the Caboolture team seemed to go into cruise mode and let very easy tries in with loose defence. Some quality ball was distributed over the game to the back line the feet footed Jay Forrester let loose and he again produced a 3 try effort. Not to be totaly out done the Caboolture loose forwards Brad Lawrie and Blayne Heath both bagged tries with some good backing up and persistance. Tom Aldridge had a fair day with the boot kicking 3 conversions and 1 penalty kick. The boys whilst producing some exciting attack were not so strong in defence letting Fraser Coast back in the game with 4 tries and some easy penatlies that they slotted over for penalty points. The boys will need to lift again this week when they play Nambour here at Kevin Kaeser Oval. The final score for the weekend was Caboolture 34 to Fraser Coast 31.
The B grade did not fair so well gooing down 24 to 12, it was not bad effort for the boys as they have been raided by the A's for players needed to fill gaps through injury to A grade players. The game was very entertaining with play moving from one end to the other with some back line exchanges and quick ruck ball from both sides. Ashley Makaua scored a nice try with some good lead up work from the team. Adam Emmerson scored the other try from a typical barging run that Adam has come to be known for. Veteran Grant Lawrie put over one conversion to round off all of Caboolture's points. All in all not a bad effort from a young B grade side.
The Women traveled to their second home ground Noosa on Saturday for their encounter. The game was a very even tussel with Noosa scoring first and taking an early lead. throughout the first half the lead changed a number of times with Noosa going to the half time break with a 2 point lead. After the half time talk the girls knuckled down and played some great football to pull a way from Noosa to posty a 24 to 17 win. Best for Caboolture were Jana McLenaghan playing her first game after waiting for most of the season to have her birthday so she could be the correct age. Leonie Murray also played well as did Kate Manning. Sharna McInnes stood out with her strong defence, unfortuatley Sharna will be leaving to go overseas in a couple of weeks and she will be sorely missed. Welll done girls!
