Club legend Gus Wittleton
Back in 1982 when the club was formed Gus Wittleton was one of the original players. Over many years Gus has played at all levels within the club. .His total number of games would have to be nudging 300. He has coached, played & participated in all aspects of the club. For the last few tears he has been one of our major sponsors (he has always put his hand in his pocket to help on many other occassions as well over the years). Nick Wittleton his son has played with the club from juniors to seniors as well. Gus and Nick were the first father and son to play in a match for Caboolture, something that some of us can only dream of. It has been said that rugby has improved his looks over the years but his wife has always said the opposite....go figure. Being the true clubman that he is I am sure that if he received a call still today his boots would be in the car and he would take the field without much prompting as he he has done on many past occassions.
Gus has only realised in the past few years that he can sometimes not play, and there are other things you can do on Saturdays, something that I am sure Christine, his wife, is thankfull for.
Not to be stopped there though he has ensured that the Wittleton name continues in the club through his 7 grandchildren. Nick & Kylie Wittleton have 5 children playing: Luke, Liam, Katie, Hugh & Hayden. Whilst Gus's Daughter Rachel Bennell and her husband Bryan have 2 children playing: Jasper & Noah.
If you see this true legend of the club at Junior games, as you will, please go up and have a chat with him and you to will find what a true legend of rugby is all about.
