Womens Preliminary Final Results

The womens team season came crashing down on Saturday against University in what was a tense nailbiting finish that ended with a gutwrenching decision.

The girls played the game of their lives to make the Grand Final for the first time after 4 previous attempts to get there. Leading with 5 minutes to go the game looked over when University crossed the line and converted. But due to the never say die attitude of the team they stuck to the task and pressured Uni to turn the ball over from the restart, from this they worked the ball down the field and caused Uni to lose composure and concede multipule penalties. Needing a try to win the match Vannessa Matthews crossed the line with 2 minutes to go securing the win only to have the try awarded and then dissallowed after a touch judge report. This vritually finished the match not the stuff fairytales are made of.

To the great credit of the team and their great rugby mantra they did not complain or show any dissent but cheered the Uni team and thanked all the officials. To all that attended the match it was a lesson in accepting the Ref's decision and moving on, albiet very hard to do so, but highly applaudible

Congratulations to the girls for their season which has been their best by far, I am sure that better things are to come from them, so watch out next year there will be a sting in their tale for sure.
