Andy's Good Mail 27/8/2010
Two games of rugby over the weekend and two words to describe them. Robbed and Brutal.
The women's team went down 15-19 after an awarded try was reversed on the say of an assistant Referee. Well done anyway girls - the club is extremely proud of you all.
The All Black/Springbok game could only be described as brutal. That was one intense game.
Peter Fitzsimons wrote in one of his books that the All Blacks can be lined up behind the posts after a try has been scored against them, 27-5 down with the kick to come and seven minutes left on the clock, saying to themselves we can win this game. This time they left it until the last two minutes!!
The Wallabies are going to have to be on the ball this weekend. As for Quade - the sad fact of professional rugby. Loyalty makes way for the pay cheque. And no I am not concerned if this gets back to the Reds.... after what A.R.U and the Reds did to help him this year I would offer the turncoat quarter of his salary. I have to disagree with most people thinking he was the saviour of Reds rugby and will be for the Wallabies. I didn't see the Reds feature in the super 14 finals and his win/loss record with the Wallabies is just about 50/50.
Extremely impressive
Well done to the Sunny Coast Stingrays, getting into the finals. Hopefully everyone saw the write up on our own Mitchell King in the Courier Mail - our first Reds player in the not too distant future.
Our 13's play their 1st final this Sunday 9.30am at Ashgrove. These boys need as much support as we can give them so throw on the Club Shirts and let's rock up there to cheer them on.
Re: Bundy trip - I have had two parents confirm that they are coming. I must know by next Tuesday or we will have to cancel.
I have had some flack about charging $30 per head this year. This trip cost the club over $3000.00 last year. For $30.00 you get a bus to Bundy, accommodation at the Cricket Club, Brekkie and the bus back. This is for the KIDS and is a very cheap weekend away. What else can you do for this small amount?
See you at the 6-9's Friday night and everyone at Ashgrove on Sunday.
