Senior players retiring.

Two of our Senior players have decided to hang up their boots (for now) this season, Cheyne (Bam Bam) Murphy and Daryll (Daggsy) Scott. Both of these players will be missed when the season kicks off next year. They have been long term mainstays of our senior sides over many years.
Cheyne Murphy has played with us since he was a junior and came to us courtesy of his father(Kerry- along term strapper and fitness punisher for the seniors) and brother (Jason another Senior player) who were involved in the club. Cheyne had a very successfull career in Baseball before coming to us, but once he played a few games of rugby he soon saw the light and gave up the baseball. A strong running and defending inside centre Cheyne was soon snapped up by the fledgling Stingrays Premier team. He played with them thorugh the startup years and did himself and our club proud with his efforts. When he returned to the club he brought back a professional approach which rubbed off on his fellow players and lifted our standards to a new level. This year he was plagued with a few injuries which meant he probably did not turn out in A grade as much as he would have liked but he still supported at every game and finished with a fine run against the touring Japanese Uni team the other night.
Thank you Cheyne for your efforts you will be missed!

The Other player retireing (again for now) is Daryl Scott, Daggsy came to us from Pine Rivers and soon became a regular A grade player. His positive attitude and work ethic made him the perfect tradesman type lock (second row), it was once said to me that if you don't notice the tight five forwards during a game then they must be in the thick of it doing the hard work. This fits Daryl to a tee, always working in tight and getting the job done. Not content with just playing Daryl also took the next step and was the club Secretary for a number of years holding the position dearly and involved in a lot of future planning and decision making. Over his time with us he has got married and produced 3 beautifull daughters (all thankfully take their mothers good looks) and continued playing (as well as completing his electrical apprenticeship)this is true commitment to his club.
Again thank you Daggsy you have left Caboolture Rugby a better place from your time and efforts.
