Caboolture A Grade stepped closer to a final 4 berth with a big victory over Gympie on the weekend. 11 tries were scored in all in what was a great display of attacking rugby. Caboolture, under the guidance of Andrew Gibbs, has produced some of the best running rugby on the coast over the past few weeks. The team has gelled and settled into a combination that has the top teams looking over their shoulders and rethinking their opinions of the Caboolture side.

On Saturday the team had a point to prove as they took the field and the point was to show that they could be clinical and execute their game plan on all teams just not lift when playing the top sides. They proved their point and proved it well scoring 71 points to 10 against a very gritty Gympie outfit. The combination of forwards and backs made it very difficult for the Gympie defence to settle into a pattern to blunt the attack in any one area. Jay Forrester was on fire again and had the room to move and showed exciting form to shift into top gear and leave the defence in his wake. Not to be out done flanker Brad Lawrie also showed great presence of mind to also join the multiple try scorers by backing up and moving to the break downs at good pace. Tane Keil also proved a handful and picked up 2 tries from pieces of individual brilliance. The team has been known in the past to build first half leads and then be content to sit and defend this lead into the second half, not this week, they held their focus and continued into the second half with the same attitude and finished the task at hand. They will need to continue this focus going into this week's game against University if they wish to realise a top 4 finish.
