Club History
The club was formed in 1982 by several new resident Squash Players and from these early beginnings of one team we have grown to 4 Senior Teams and 16 Junior teams.
In 1985 the Junior ranks were started. The Juniors (under 6's to Under 17's) have always played in the Brisbane competition and have secured numerous Premierships and minor premierships.
The Senior teams commenced in the Sunshine Coast Competition, moved to the Brisbane Division 2 Competition, and have now taken the giant step in returning to the Sunshine Coast Competition with 1 Senior player invited to play in the Sunshine Coast Premier Grade.
From 1998 to 2002 the Seniors while playing in the Sunshine Coast Competition secured a Premiership and were in three grand finals whilst playing in the Brisbane Division 2 competition. The Club won a Colts premiership in the Sunshine Coast Competition in 2001 and has supplied many players to the Junior State Regional Championships and the Senior Sunshine Coast (Stingrays) and Queensland Sub-District Teams. We also supplied one Colts player (Sandy Moore) to the Australian Aboriginal schoolboys team that toured South Africa in 2001.
We have achieved steady growth and have a reputation of enjoying Rugby both on and off the field. Our Senior side had played in the Hong Kong 10's from 1987 to 1998 and our 1999, 2001 and 2003 Under 16's teams completed a tour of New Zealand. Continuing from these New Zealand tours, our Under 16's in 2004 toured Sydney, our Under 16's in 2005 toured Central Queensland and our Under 16's in 2006 toured Fiji, all playing successful games.
We are one of the six Sub-Clubs affiliated with the Caboolture Sports Club, which is turning into a good source of revenue for our ongoing development. Our members are automatic Sports Club members when we sign on and pay our fees and we encourage you to use this modern, friendly venue as your meeting place. Mr. Kevin Kaeser is our current Sports Club representative and one of the seven Sports Club's Directors.
Planning is already well underway for the 2010 season, and we are pleased to announce we have acquired the services of a new "A" Grade coach for our Senior Men's Team. Andrew Gibbs, a past A grade player has steped into the coaching ranks, with assitance from Adam (Hoppy) Hopp. Gibbo has been a mainstay of our seniors for a number of years and brings stacks of recent playing knowledge to the role. Hoppy coached in 2009 for the first time and re-introduced a club passion that only he could deliver and due to work and family has stepped back to help Gibbo. Together they will make an awesome team with youth and keen rugby kowledge and club spirit. We are very excited to have Andrew & Adam on board, and are looking forward to a great season from our Senior teams!
Our B grade will be under the leadership of Antony Wallace and Grant Lawrie, two old heads (and some say ugly) who have played many games for the club. They have the task of "blooding ' the younger players to senior rugby and at the same time nuturing the less young players who continue to be the lifeblood of our club.
The womens team that have been semi finalists for the past 3 years, are looking forward to another big year with founding player Shanya Griffith returning to the fold after a year away. Under coach Mark Hilleard they will again be a force on the Sunshine Coast Womens Competition.
Our Colts team will be led by the Legendary Coach Gary Cossart who has had a few years away to recharge the batteries and is keen to take the boys through the season. Unfortunatley we did not field a team last year but we will be back on the paddock this year with some great junior talent returning back to the club. Past Caboolture Colts team have set the pace in their competition and this team will be no different.
